We don’t just provide entertainment... We create it!
Mike’s nickname is “Big Mike”. If you know Mike, you know that his favorite thing is to be out with friends having a good time – “Where The Party At” by Jagged Edge would sum up Mike’s appreciation for celebrating the moment in all capacities. Mike is one of our most versatile DJs. To understand why, you will have to meet the man behind the DJ booth.
Born in Chicago but raised in Pittsburgh, Mike has always been interested in music. He played the guitar, piano, and saxophone. His older brother desired to become a DJ and like little brothers often do, Mike followed in his footsteps. He learned quickly in the DJ world to keep trying and never give up. Mike has a passion for people. It is evident when he is behind the DJ booth or in the classroom, where he has been a teacher for over 13 years. Mike is continuously striving to be better. He is motivated by his passion for music, his love for teaching, but mostly his family. He is the father of 3 boys and a little girl. If that doesn’t melt your heart, his involvement in community service through his fraternity (Alpha Phi Alpha), directing church choirs in several states and teaching the youth of America just might. His background in music and his experience working with people of all backgrounds and ages makes him an asset to our DJ family.
Mike brings his big smile and a party for any genre, age group or occasion. He not only makes himself aware of the bodies on the floor, but wants those in the crowd to be engaged as well. He emphasizes that a good DJ makes everyone feel comfortable and welcome throughout the entire night. Because of the understanding of how music can affect those listening, Mike describes the time he spends behind the booth as “guiding the room through a journey”. The journey begins with his careful consideration in preparing for the client’s events. He starts with meeting the couple and getting to know their vision for the night. Sometimes they know exactly what they want, but more often than not, it’s about the discussion and posing questions to help them build their visions and then applying it on the special day. From working at the Carolina Panthers stadium, to the interactions with Brides and Grooms, the journeys he has led remain as cherished memories for him, even after the party ends.
