As the dust settles from wedding season '15, I have an opportunity to reflect on this year's 54 weddings that I had the honor of being a part of; as the memories replay, a smile grows across my face. Unfortunately, I was not able to get a photo with every couple this year, and some photos with couples were taken by their professional photographers, so I haven't gotten them (yet). But here are the photos that I DO have with my couples of 2015:Scott & Wydea (#TeamSwirl)Whitney & ToniTina & J.P. with RasheedMelany & Dow with GiovanniSarah & Justin with GioRachel & Jared with KyleFaith & (my old friend) Logan with RasheedCara & Andy with FredAshlee & Danny with Rasheed and DaziahChristine & ChadSusanne & Paul with AnthonyAndrew & Brittany with DaziahSarah & Josh with Gio (not pictured)Jami and Josh (a couple of good friends of mine!)Chris & Robin with RasheedAlex & Georgiana with MargaretHeather & RyanKienan & Audrey with DaziahSteven & JenniferKevin & Stefani with AnthonyDanielle & Brian with ShannonSeth & Nancy with HeatherDave & Rachel with HeatherMarc & Kim with GioTheresa & Benjamin with TracyJess & Rebekah with AnthonyMelissa & Victor with GiovanniSteve & Lauren with GioBrian & Ashley with GioMegan & Dave (she's one of my favorite people from high school)Chad & Michelle with ShannonDarragh & Jessica with KyndraBrian & KateHarris & Brianne with KyndraScott & Kelley with TracyMark & Genevieve with GeorgeCatherine & Field with GioJulie & EricScott & JulieTo my photographers out there, if you...  read more »

Posted on: October-03, 2015 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
On July 25th, 2015, Gio and I were at Deerpond Plantation for the celebration of Marc & Kim's joining together. It was a hot July day, but that didn't stifle anyone's willingness to enjoy themselves. After the intros, the first dance, a great dinner, some heartfelt toasts, and the remaining formalities, the guests were ready to throw down and let loose! We had a blast with Marc, Kim, and their guests and it was a pleasure to be involved!Congrats to the new Mr. & Mrs. Attwater! May all good things flow to you freely!...  read more »

This Was A Terbil Day, But It Was Anything But Terrible.

On July 18th, 2015, Heather and I were on the scene at Byron's South end for the joining of the Wykoff clan and the Terbilcox troops. It was quite an occasion! We had some servicemen in the building; Dave and his brothers are proud members of our U.S. military so it was an honor to be able to celebrate with them. After the cocktail hour, as we began the reception, we started off with some fun intros, and brought Dave & Rachel out into a very special, well-done first dance. Dinner was filled with songs of love, lots of conversation, and a growing anticipation of the celebration to follow. The toasts were very entertaining and garnered quite a few solid laughs! After the formalities were said and done, we kicked the party off and non-stop dancing ensued until the evening came to end. It was so much fun and I'm so happy to have been involved in this amazing occasion!Congratulations to you two! Here's to nothing but incredible days ahead!...  read more »

On July 11th, 2015, Heather and I were uptown at the beautiful Foundation For The Carolinas for the union of the Mr. & Mrs. Bullard. It was a beautiful summer day; the weather was great, the mood was right, and people were ready to celebrate such a happy occasion! Cassandra of BlueSky photography was there capturing the precious moments. Best Impressions Catering had their fantastic, professional staff there providing excellent service and incredible food. Wow Factor supplied the delicious dessert in the form of a beautiful cake. The creative mind of Alicia Lalone of Wedding Rowwas on the scene making sure that everything went according to the plan put forth by Carla of Style Perfect Events. Once the party got started, we had a phenomenal time until it was time to send them off! ...But not before we got a picture with them!A huge congratulations to this fantastic couple! #nancyandsethtildeath...  read more »

Cookin' With Crisco @ Trump Nat'l Golf Club
Posted on: July-01, 2015 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
On Saturday, June 27th, 2015, Shannon and I were out at Trump National Golf Club for the celebration of the marriage of Danielle & Brian! Once the reception began, the wedding party had a good time providing entertainment for the rest of the guests; they were a fun group. The first dance was great and you could tell that it was an important moment for them. Dinner was a great time and I met a couple of couples who had used Split Second Sound for their weddings and proceeded to tell me how much they loved working with us so that was great to hear. The toasts were detailed and actually dropped a breadcrumb or two that I was able to incorporate into the playlist later on in the evening. One of the cool things that happened before we really kicked it up a notch was taking the time to highlight that these two great people got married on the 27th, and then both sets of parents anniversaries were the 28th and 29th of the same month but 35 and 40 years ago. Once the dance party began, certain groups would come out to certain styles, but before you knew it, everyone was out there and people were having a ball. It was all documented by Rick with Carolina Video Productions and his second shooter Jimmy. Photography was handled by Julia of Julia Laible Photography...  read more »

Magic At Firethorne Country Club: One Glass Became Two
Posted on: July-01, 2015 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
On Friday, June 26th, 2015, Tony and I were over in Marvin at the beautiful Firethorne CC for a beautiful union between Stefani and Kevin. Not only was this event special in it's own right, but Brian Bunn was there with his second shooter for the day, Skip, getting the video! On top of that, the photographers were Julie and Alyssa from Old South Studios... It couldn't NOT be a great time! The ceremony was held outside and it was a great day as far as weddings and precipitation go... A band of strings provided music during the ceremony.I won't say that it was uncomfortably hot out but I will say that I know people were not disappointed when it was time to get something cold to drink and enjoy some good ol' fashioned air-conditioning. C'est la vie; that's a summer wedding for you. Sometimes you need to sweat a little extra to make the beautiful moments a reality. After cocktail hour, we got the crowd revved with some fun intros to kick off the reception. The first dance had definitely been rehearsed and they executed it beautifully! Dinner was a good time, the formalities were a lot of fun, and to begin the dancing for the night, a couple who had been married for 65 years came out to share a waltz together. It was a unique moment; in this day and age, 65 years of marriage is something to be admired. Throughout the course of the evening, we...  read more »

A Day Always Made Special

On June 20th, 2015, I found myself at the Mint Museum Uptown for the bringing together of two very cool people! The event had been put together by Katrina Hutchins of Come+Together Events. On the second floor of the building they had a beautiful string duet providing live music during the ceremony. I was happy to find out that one of my favorite people to see at a ceremony, Reverend Rebecca Nagy, was there to officiate the union. After the ceremony, up to the 5th floor went the guests, where cocktail hour took place while family pictures were being taken elsewhere (this wedding was photographed by Sarah over at Two Cents Photo + Film). Once the guests were seated, we all enjoyed some fun and entertaining introductions of the wedding party and then then I introduced the new Mr. & Mrs. Adams; the crowd expressed their excitement for them as they made their way to the center of the dance floor to share their first dance to a Clapton classic. Dinner was a lively time; the guests were friendly and talkative as they enjoyed the deliciousness of Something Classic. The cutting of the cake garnered quite the applause! The toasts were entertaining as always; you really never know what someone is going to say when...  read more »

On June 13th, 2015, Daziah and I were out at Dennis Vineyards for a very special day! The bride and groom held their ceremony beneath this magnificent oak tree...After the "I do"s had been said, we took things back to the reception hall where people cooled down and got ready for the pending celebration while the phenomenal teams of Old South Studios and Crown Alley Films got those special photos with wedding party while taking advantage of the beautiful landscape of the vineyard. Once it was time to get the party started, we had a good time with the introductions, and enjoyed a sentimental first dance before dinner time. After dinner, they cut into their stunning Wow Factor Cakes cake and shared that moment with their crowd watching and sharing the resounding "aww". From some 60's classics, to some disco era favorites, some 90s and current pop hits, a couple of fun line dances,  and few other genres mixed in throughout the night, we had a whole lot of fun with these two and their lively friends and family until we sent them on their way through a tunnel of sparklers...but not before getting a picture! I'm so glad that I got to be a part of such a grand occasion and would like to wish all the best to the new Mr. & Mrs. Gold!!!...  read more »

The Day Miss Husband Wed Her Husband...
Posted on: June-15, 2015 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
So on Friday, June 12th, I loaded up the ol' DJ mobile and headed out to the Lake Lure Inn & Spa for the joining of one of my coolest couples to date! Whenever you choose to have any or all of your event happen outside, you have to understand that nature will not always be on your side. Whether it's way too hot out or whether you find yourself with surprise precipitation, you never know what the elements are going to dish you on your day. Heather and Ryan understood this, so when the rain came and we had to make a last minute decision to move things under cover, they rolled with it and did not let it ruin their happiness. The ceremony was the shortest I've ever been a witness to, however you cannot allow the brevity of it discount the depth of it; it was heartfelt, genuine, and not matter how long or short, the moment was just right. Once the ceremony was over, we moved over to the reception hall with a stocked bar and air conditioning; the calm before the storm. The bride and groom had some fun with their entrance and then before we got to dinner, the bride wanted to have some time to dance and get the party started early and to work up those dinner appetites! After dinner was eaten, and toasts had been said, it was time to kick it into gear and really celebrate the occasion! From the...  read more »

Baugh So Hard...That Ish Cray!
Posted on: June-15, 2015 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
So on May 29th, 2015, the day had arrived for one of my favorite people to wed yet another insanely awesome individual, and I could not have been happier to have been involved! I met the bride when we worked together at Morton's Steakhouse almost 8 years ago and we've been good friends since. From a long stint of trivia Tuesday nights to my 26th birthday group trip to Vegas, and everything betwixt and after, she's always been a beam of joy! Her husband had been a friend of hers for quite sometime (and I got to meet him and become friends with him along the way) but sometimes it just takes awhile to realize that what you're looking for has been there all along. Once they started dating, it was clear that they just fit! When the engagement came and they told me that they wanted me to be their DJ, I was beyond stoked! I was already so excited for them, but to add that they wanted me to be involved in this capacity was just off the charts! As the days counted down and the date drew nearer, the excitement grew. Just a couple of weeks before what should be happiest day of your life, the groom had to face one of the most painful events that life will ever present; his father passed away. Experiencing that loss myself 7 years ago, and henceforth always having it in the back of my head that, when the day...  read more »

Two Flames Joined To Become A Raging Fire
Posted on: May-17, 2015 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
On Saturday, May 16th, 2015, Daziah and I were on location at Rolling Hill Farms for the joining of a fireman and his soulmate. The beautiful ceremony was held outside; the weather was perfect! During the ceremony, thanks to a bit of tech savvy, there was a portion where the bride's late grandfather was able to bestow some words of wisdom on the new couple, which was a complete surprise to all but a very select few. The cocktail hour was supposed to take place outside, but once people grabbed a drink from the outside bar, they made their way some refreshing air conditioning in the reception hall. Laughter and light music filled the air as the wedding party finished up taking some necessary portraits. Once the reception kicked off, you could tell it was going to be a good time! The bride and groom had a pretty extensive wedding party and each couple came out to their own song with some very entertaining theatrics! After the array of wedding party antics, Andrew and Brittany made their amped entrance into the sea of their friends and family. Once everyone had calmed down, the happy couple began their first dance. It was special moment and everyone knew it! At the conclusion of the first dance, the bride was led to the floor by her father for their daddy/daughter dance. It started off slow and everyone thought it was just going to be what it was...until...  read more »

It's Saturday Night And We In The Spot! Don't Believe Me? Just Watch...

Satuday, May 2nd, 2015 had just the right weather for a Split Second Sound wedding in the city. The actual ceremony took place at St. Patrick's. The terrace of the 5th floor of the Mint Museum Uptown is where the guests mingled during cocktail hour. As they made their way inside to find their seats for dinner, they were able to gather around and see the first dance before dinner. Everyone watched as the new C-cubed shared their first dance and just lived right in that very moment. After the song ended and they received a nice round of applause, our father of the bride came up to share his lengthy, yet funny and heartfelt speech which everyone enjoyed. Dinner carried on with a soundtrack mixture of hand-picked songs by the bride, a few great suggestions from some guests, as well as my own dinner flavor mixed in. The meal was provided by Best Impressions Caterers. The cake cutting of the beautiful cake by Sweets Du Jour was a fun one, and they did it with grace. It was definitely an enjoyable moment of the evening. The toasts by the Matron of Honor (the bride's sister), and the Best Man (the groom's brother) were perfect for the occasion and they both got some good laughs too. Once the bride had shared an emotional dance with her dad, and the groom shared a heart-warming dance with his mom, and the...  read more »

On Friday, May 1st, 2015, Rasheed, Daziah, and I were on the scene at Asbury Park Grove for the full day of festivities! As ceremony time drew near, we were all a little bit worried due to the storm clouds that had been looming over head...but by the time we were supposed to begin the ceremony, the clouds had dispersed and the sun was shining brightly on these two love birds and their host of friends and family! At the conclusion of the ceremony, guests went to mingle and start getting a bit of a pre-reception buzz going before we set things off. After family and wedding party photos were wrapped up (by Scott & Shari of Image Expressions), it was time to get the evening started! The introductions were fun, the first dance was a great moment, dinner was definitely the calm before the storm. Once it was time to party, party we did!We kept the dance floor bumpin' all night! After the party ended, it was time to send them out for a bubble exit... but not before we got a picture with them!On behalf of Rasheed, Daziah, everyone on the Split Second Sound team, and myself, congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Hecht! On Saturday, April 25, Fred and I were on location at The White Homestead for the joining of Ms. Close and Mr. Cook! They had a beautiful ceremony held underneath one of two sizable tents provided by Creative Solutions. After the ceremony, everyone made their way to the reception tent to mingle for cocktail hour while the wedding party and immediate family got in some photos with the happy couple. The incredible floral displays were supplied by the amazing crew over at Lily Greenthumb's; it was a sight to behold! Crystal Stokes was in charge of photos for the day, so I know the bride and groom will be happy with their album. ShutterBooth was back at it again with us so the guests were happy to jump into the booth, grab some fun props, and make some lasting memories! Carla with Style Perfect and Alicia Lalone with Wedding Row worked in concert with me to make sure that everything was executed as planned. Best Impressions was on the scene providing some of the most delicious food around! The scrumptious wedding cake was provided by none other than Sky's The Limit Cakes! On Friday, April 24th, Rasheed and I arrived at Asbury Park Grove to set up for the beautiful union of Faith and Logan. As guests arrived to be seated for the ceremony, there was no need to find out who was with the bride and who was with the groom...It was a beautiful ceremony filled with laughter and the purest sentiment of love! After the ceremony, they shared a lively cocktail hour out on the back patio before we took things inside to get the party started. Once the reception kicked off, introductions were upbeat and a lot of fun! The toasts were kind and heart-felt, and the special dances were priceless moments. Throughout the evening, guests definitely took advantage of the fact that ShutterBooth was on location with all of those fun photo props! It was a lot of fun and it was great getting to be a part of this event since I knew the groom from almost a decade ago. On April 18th, Kyle and I were in the heart of downtown Monroe at The Bottle Factory for the joining of Rachel & Jared. Family and friends gathered upstairs for a beautiful ceremony beneath a traditional Jewish chuppah. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Jared stomped the glass as friends and family alike, yelled with joy, in accord, mazel tov! Cocktail hour took place downstairs, around the side of the building, in the courtyard. Tunes filled the air while the guests filled their glasses. The weather was virtually a coin flip between rain or no rain, but fortunately the guests successfully enjoyed their cocktail hour without winding up soaking wet. Once everyone had moved inside and readied themselves for the reception to kick off, the evening began with Rachel and Jared ascending from the staircase into the cheers of their friends and family, and onto the dance floor for their first dance. As the evening proceeded through dinner, (provided by Delectables By Holly), Rachel and Jared cut into their cake, we heard some great toasts, and after parent dances, it was time to hoist the happy couple into the air and get some crowd participation for the Hora. Once the party started, the dance floor was full and lively all night! It was a nonstop celebration until we sent the new Mr. & Mrs. Peterson on their way through a sparkler exit. On 4/17/15, Gio and I made our way south to the Wild Dunes Resort located in Isle of Palms, SC for the joining of the Justin & Sarah. For their ceremony, they married each other with the rolling waves of the Atlantic ocean to one side of them, and a fantastic group of friends and family to the other side of them. The reception that followed was so much fun! From singing songs at the top of their lungs, to busting out into random conga lines, to the groom rapping a little bit of Vanilla Ice on the mic, the reception was just non-stop laughter and dancing. As night came to a close after an hour of overtime, it was time to send the bride and groom off with a sparkler exit. Before they went on their way, of course Gio and I had to get a picture with them!Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Meharg! Bob, Bob, and 97 Year Old Grandpa George For The Win!

On April 11th, Gio and I were over at the awesome, relatively new Separk Mansion! Kat Howe of Best Day Ever Studios was the wedding planner who made sure everything came together as it was supposed to. It was a beautiful day for an outside ceremony! Once the ceremony had concluded, the guests gathered on the spacious front deck while Julie Staley of Old South Studios and her second shooter, Alyssa made sure to get those post-ceremony wedding party and family photos before preparing to capture all the smiles that happened throughout the reception. The sun was shining, the temperature was ideal, and the sound of laughter meshed with friendly conversation was the perfect compliment to the soft breeze that carried it. The introductions took place down the focal point, the staircase. Once the wedding party had made their way down and painted the backdrop for the bride and groom's first dance, the happy couple turned the corner and made their way down the stairs to a room full of family and friends cheering for the happiness that they had found with each other. The positive energy was palpable! Before dinner, the bride's 97 year old grandpa gave a funny and sweet toast to the happy couple. Dinner time was excellent because Tom and some of his Queen City Catering crew were on the scene with me to make sure that excellent food was paired with great music....  read more »

You Know What Fuels A Good Time...Besides A Barrel Of Saké?

On April 4th of 2015, Rasheed and I were on the scene at Providence Country Club. The stage was set for a beautiful ceremony outside. There was not a cloud in the sky, but just the right amount of cool breeze (and unfortunately for me, too much pollen). Cocktail hour was held out on the terrace, where the guests took an opportunity to get something to munch on and something to swig on as a pregame situation for the party. Once it was time to get things going, it was a joyous time from start to finish! To honor a traditional Japanese tradition, the bride and groom used two mallets to crack open a barrel full of sakéfor the guests to share with them. While we supplied the 24 up-lights that surrounded the room and brought the border alive, the guests rocking their glowstick bracelets and necklaces brought even more light to illuminate the fun being had. At the end of the night, the bride and groom made their grand exit through a tunnel of sparklers as the crowd waved and cheered! Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Cummins!  ...  read more »

Ein Prosit - Oktoberfest in March!

On March 21st, 2015, I found myself at the Olde Mecklenburg Brewery for the very special celebration of the joining of Whitney and Toni! From the brewery tour given during their cocktail hour for anyone interested in how OMB does what they do, to the cutting of the cake with a very special saber (and Whitney proceeding to smash the cake into Toni's face), to the dancing that had a little something for everyone with the sweet spot being in between high energy club type music and 80's rock, it was a great event! The groom, hailing from Germany, had a nice amount of friends and family come into town from the homeland; some of the out of town (country) guests even wore traditional German garb to really make it official! There's nothing quite like seeing people from Bavaria in lederhosen celebrating such an occasion at a brewery! It was definitely one for the books! Ein prosit to Whitney and Toni! On September 13th, Demar and I hopped on the highway and headed South to Greenville to the Old Cigar Warehouse for the ceremony and reception for Ashley and Michael. As guests arrived to the ceremony, they were greeted by the sound string instruments. During the ceremony, Michael and Ashley each read very heartfelt letters that they had written for each other. Once the "I do's" were done, it was time for the happy couple, the family, and the wedding party to get some pictures as the guests gathered in another area to start quenching that liquid courage thirst. Once we began the reception, the introductions were fun, the first dance was lively, dinner went well, and the toasts given by the Maid of Honor and Best Man were QUITE entertaining! After toasts, we moved everyone back into main area where the rest of the evening would take place. Ashley and Michael shared a strawberry jelly-filled doughnut in lieu of the traditional cutting of the cake cutting and managed to get powdered sugar all over each others' faces. The parent dances that followed were great and the anniversary dance revealed that our oldest married couple had been married for more than 50 years! From 80's rock to 90's dance to country sing-alongs to current pop, and more, the crowd got down and seemed to have a really good time! And after it was all said and done... we sent them away to their rickshaw through a glowstick tunnel!Congratulations to the new...  read more »

All You Need Is Love...(And A Little Bit Of Luck).

On August 31st, Demar and I were given the opportunity to be a part of yet another memorable celebration! This time, we were over at the South Charlotte Banquet Hall for the marriage of Mike & Chrissy! As we were finishing setting up for our outside ceremony, thunder rumbled in the distance as ominous clouds gathered 'round. As I was setting up my primary system inside for the reception while awaiting the guests' arrival, I kept having to look out the window to make sure that it hadn't started raining on my equipment. With just a little bit of luck, if any dark clouds lingering around released any rain, it didn't happen on our ceremony spot. The ceremony fortunately took place in the shade and with the impending setting of the sun, it had cooled down just enough to be in that Goldilocks temperature zone.Once the ceremony had concluded, guests made their way inside to mingle during cocktail hour, while Mike, Chrissy, and their families gathered for family photos. Finished with photos, the family and the wedding party made their way back inside to line up for introductions. Mike and Chrissy picked out a song for both of their parents, and each pairing in the wedding party so we wound up having 10 very unique introduction songs! It was a lot of fun and definitely gave their guests a taste of what was to come as the party continued. When dinner time came, I encouraged the guests to eat up...  read more »

Air Force Ones Shaking The Foundation

On August 30th, 2014, Leron and I were on location with David Klingel at The Foundation For The Carolinas for the union of one of the coolest couples I've had the pleasure of working with. This wedding was B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L; everything from the couple, to the guests, to the caterers. I snapped a shot of what it looked like before everyone arrived...So many seats awaiting the lives of those who would be celebrating shortly......And then...Perfection... What a match! After such an incredible ceremony, it was time to celebrate! We introduced the parents, the bridesmaids made quite an entrance, the groomsmen followed in fresh fasion, and the bride and groom came in to their guest-generated electricity accompanied by a custom mix I made for them; the Foundation shook. Then it was time for the first dance...Following the formalities, drinks filled the glasses, music filled the night air, and happy feet fiiled the dance floor as the party flowed throughout the evening into the late night. The fantastic food was prepared by the awesome Queen City Catering, Amanda of Isabel's Corner Videography used her video ninja skills to catch everything in motion while the dynamic duo of Smitten & Hooked, Steven & Lucy, snagged the still shots. If You Want To Declare You Love From The Top Of A Mountain...The Twickenham House
Posted on: September-02, 2014 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
On a very out of the ordinary Thursday of August the 23, 2014, an extraordinary pair decided to have Demar and I up to the Twickenham House for the nuptial festivities. It was a beautiful day in Jefferson, NC and it's a good thing it was because our event was being held outside. Once we got to the mountain that this house was built on, we made our exciting ascent up and around hairpin turns on a one lane road with a with an exceptionally steep grade; it was a trek! Once we made it to the top, we got unloaded and started to set up. Over off to the side of the reception tent was where the ceremony took place. Shanna was bubbling over with excitement; she could barely contain herself as she made her way down the aisle. They said their vows as Shanna giddily giggled, knowing she was standing in the presence of her other half. If you weren't smiling as a witness to this, you didn't have a pulse; the joy was palpable. After the ceremony, the cocktail hour was a good time as people mingled and enjoyed the beautiful view, awaiting the fun that was to come. The introductions were fun, dinner seemed to be a hit, and once the dance floor opened up, the guests were not afraid to take advantage of it! It was truly joyous occasion and Split Second Sound could not have been...  read more »

Seeing Double For A Second Time

On July 12th, 2014, Alexander and I were over at the beautiful Providence Country Club for a very special occasion!Last May, one of my old high school friends married an awesome guy and I was lucky enough to be a part of that red-letter day (as seen in picture below). This past Saturday, my groom was the aforementioned groom's IDENTICAL twin brother. The bride just so happened to be the aforementioned old high school's friend's best friend! From the beautiful Jewish ceremony, held underneath an impressively elegant chuppah, with a harpist playing in the bride, to a festive cocktail hour out on the terrace with beautiful weather and love-themed tunes, to a fun-filled reception with a dance party ignited by the hora, it was quite a celebration! Indigo Photography was on location capturing still shots of all of the happy moments. It was such a great time being able to rejoin a family to celebrate another special occasion in their lives! After the party, I was excited to get this last shot...Congratulations to Chris and Alexis! To the Bonsall brothers and their beautiful wives, I hope you all have lives filled with more happy memories than anyone could ever ask for! *Cheers*...  read more »

Nothing Like Young Love At Pine Lake

On June 20th, 2014, Margaret and I were able to be a part of the celebration for an awesome couple! Once the reception began, the positive energy was pulsing throughout the room. After the 18 person wedding party had been introduced, the bride and groom made their entrance and went right into their first dance (which I had edited for them). They chose to go ahead and do their special dances with their parents immediately following their first dance; after the bride's dance with her father, the groom had a surprise for his mom. The groom mother dance started with a sweet, slow song but surprised the crowd when the transition into Rocky Top was made and the groom and his mom broke it down; it was awesome! After those specials moments, the tone was set for a great evening. After dinner, when it was time to get to the dancing, we had a lot of fun with the guests and kept the party jumping until it was time to send the bride and groom on their way through a tunnel of sparklers as the guests sang Sweet Caroline. The event was captured by YAH photography and Giovanni Films It was a great time and I am very happy to have been involved! Congrats to the new Mr. & Mrs. Odom! Here's to your lifetime of happiness! ...  read more »

Doin' it big at DSBG!
Posted on: June-23, 2014 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
On June 7th, 2014, Josh and I showed up to find that the lawn at DSBG had been used as the grounds for one of the most elaborate "tents" I've ever seen. Truth be told, I can't even call it a tent; it was a building with plastic walls but glass doors. Elegant chandeliers hung from the ceiling, incredible floral centerpieces decorated the tables, uplights lit the back wall... it was a sight to be seen (in fact, here's a shot of my view before the event started). The ceremony took place over in the White Garden and it was quite the ceremony indeed. The cocktail hour followed in another part of the garden where people gathered and no doubt discussed how wonderful the ceremony they had just witnessed was. Once we moved everyone inside the tent to get the party started, it was time for fun! The dance party was such a great time and from 80's pop to rock and roll, and a little bit of everything in between, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves! I Do wedding consultants Nancy and Salim were responsible for making such an epic event happen while Crystal Stokes was there making sure to snap all of the happy moments while Timm Young had the reels spinning capturing the exciting footage. It was an excellent event for one of the greatest couples ever and I am so happy to have been a part of it! Congratulations...  read more »

When There's No Quarrel In The Quarry, There's No Harm On The Farm
Posted on: June-03, 2014 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
On May 31st, 2014, Demar and I were out in Mooresville at the Carrigan Farms rock quarry for a very special wedding. Ryan and Kelly were married last August but held off on having the celebration until someone very important could be in attendance. The two met through Kelly's brother, who had been deployed overseas at the time of the wedding but since they wouldn't be together if it wasn't for him, they said they couldn't celebrate until he was able to join. Before the reception began, they had me play the audio clip from their ceremony so that everyone who was unable to be in attendance at their wedding could still have the chance to hear them exchange their vows. After the clip, we had a lot of fun with the introductions which set the mood for the rest of the night. Chris Jenkins of Charlotte Vibe Photography was on the scene, making sure to capture all of the fun! After the crowd had enjoyed dancing throughout the evening, when we drew near to the end of the night, a lot of the guests had brought swimsuits because the plan was to jump into the quarry! It's a good thing the weather's been so nice as of late, otherwise it may have been way too cold for that. Now, since I usually get a photo with my happy couples at the end of the event, I was not able to do so, due to the fact that they were...  read more »

Team Pearl Packs A Hearty Party Punch At The Plantation

So on June 1st, 2014, I was down in Charleston for a wedding at the Lowndes Grove Plantation. My assistant for this wedding was none other than my very own brother. He is active duty Coast Guard and currently stationed in Charleston and fortunately, was able to get a day off to come assist. The ceremony was held in the front lawn and it was beautiful. The cocktail hour consisted of great tunes, snacks and drinks for the guests, and of course, a bit of cornhole. The reception was a total blast! If people weren't on the packed dance floor, they were out on the dock enjoying the scenery or down near the cornhole boards taking advantage of the s'more station... you read that correct...they had a s'more station; those s'mores were DELICIOUS! It was an amazing event that ended with the bride and groom exiting through a tunnel of sparkles being waved by their awesome friends and family... but not before we all got a photo together! Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Wuellner!!!...  read more »

Una Bella Giornata (A Beautiful Day) At Il Bella Gardens
Posted on: May-30, 2014 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
On May 24th, LeRon and I were out in Albemarle at Il Bella Gardens for a full day of festivities. Way out on the property, the beautiful ceremony was held beneath a gigantic tree; it was a lovely location for the exchanging of vows. Once the ceremony ended, the guests made their way back to a shaded area near the reception spot for some drinking and mingling while Julie (Old South Studios) and Autumn handled the post-ceremony/pre-party photos. As the photos were being finished up, Brian Bunn and his associate readied their video cameras for the reception introductions. When everyone was in place and ready to begin, it was time to get the reception ball rolling! The fun, upbeat introductions kept the crowd excited until the bride and groom made their way in and shared their first dance as husband and wife. At the conclusion of that special moment, we transitioned into a delicious dinner. Once everyone had their fill of the yummy grub, we made our way through the cutting of a great looking cake, the special moments made up of the bride and groom dancing with their parents, and the hilarity that ensued once we got to the bouquet and garter formalities. Once it was time to get the dancing underway, there was definitely fun to be had! As the night drew to a close, everyone joined the bride and groom for their final dance and then it was time to say...  read more »

It Was A Dry Wedding, But You Couldn't Tell From All Of The Sweat
Posted on: May-08, 2014 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
On May 3rd, Adam and I loaded up and headed North towards Virginia for a dry (no alcohol) wedding at Sinkland Farms. The ceremony was beautiful, the weather was nothing shy of perfect, and the atmosphere was ideal for our couple of the day. Our groom had a few surprises up his sleeve for his bride... During their first dance, he had arranged for a sparkler shower to rain down behind them for the last 30 seconds of their dance and she had no idea that it was coming; it was perfection. Dinner was filled with light-hearted conversation, and contemporary and classic love songs that everyone seemed to enjoy. As we were nearing the end of the dinner, and the party was about to begin, I was apprehensive as to how much of the crowd we would be able to attract since everyone had not taken part in any "liquid courage" but my worries were stampeded by everyone making their way to the dance floor and absolutely raging for the rest of the evening. Glow sticks were everywhere, the energy was over the top, and everyone really seemed to be enjoying themselves! At several points in the evening, the groom was found above the guests...as he crowd-surfed around the dance floor! As the last song played, surprise number two shocked the crowd as confetti cannons exploded, raining down upon the crowd. Once the final song came to an end, and the guests prepared for the sparkler send off, it was...  read more »

On April 26th, Demar and I had the opportunity to be involved in an absolutely excellent reception with an amazing crowd! Smitten & Hooked were on the scene, making sure to snap all of the memorable moments. ShutterBooth was in the house, as the bride and groom requested their guests, in lieu of signing a guest book, make a photo strip to contribute instead. The bride and groom were introduced and then shared their first dance to a selection by the groom that he insisted be a surprise for his bride; it was a moment to remember. As we transitioned into dinner, the vibe was awesome and everyone was in high spirits. Before dinner ended, our guests were ready to get moving and before I knew it, we had a dance floor packed with shaggers reliving some Myrtle Beach days. After the cake was cut, the toasts were said, and the parents of our couple had an opportunity to share a dance with the bride and groom, it was time to shift into party mode; the dance floor was packed immediately! The dancing continued as fervently as it started until we had gone a half an hour over the scheduled end time and had to bring the party to close. It was such a great time with so many amazing guests, and such a fantastic bride and groom! To the new Mr. & Mrs. Hall... may you have a lifetime of happiness...  read more »

I'm Farrelly Certain This Love Will Last

It was a beautiful Saturday at the Palisades Country Club when Mahlon and I arrived to set up. The weather outside was optimal for a Spring ceremony and everyone was enjoying it, especially since Patrick Maloy was officiating. After the "I do's", as the guests mingled during the cocktail hour, Deevo and his awesome team over at Fusion Photography Studios were very efficient in getting photos taken care of so we could get the party started. The wedding planner just so happened to be the bride's ("not so matronly") Matron Of Honor, Kristen, who works for At The Heels with Heather; They are awesome to work with! Once the reception kicked off, it was time to celebrate! We had guests who were local, some were from New York, and the groom's family traveled in from St. Thomas to celebrate! From the lively introductions until their exit through a tunnel of sparklers, it was an excitement and a joy to be a part of this couple's big day! On Sunday, March 30th, Demar and I had the excellent opportunity to be the DJs for Ashley and Brandon out at the Arbors in Cleavland, NC. The breeze was brisk but the sun was shining and it really was a great day for a wedding! With guests visiting from as far as Alaska, we had a fun crowd, and they were all there to support the love shared between such a great couple! With purple uplights surrounding the room and their custom monogram displayed above their cake, which were just some of the decor, the venue was beautiful! Queen City Catering was on location supplying the delicious food. With an awesome crowd, and an amazing couple, after filled with food while the drinks continued to flow, the celebration was a memorable one! On January 18th, Mahlon and I had the pleasure to be involved in Jaimee and John's big day! We were at the Ballantyne Hotel for the grand occasion. We handled the music for the cocktail hour downstairs in the great room until it was time to send everyone to the upstairs ballroom for the reception. Once the night got started, it was nothing but smiles from beginning to end. Between the awesome couple, the friendly guests, and the efficiency of the Ballantyne Hotel staff, the evening was as smooth as it was enjoyable! The groom's best man was his identical twin brother so that made things confusing and entertaining all at once! I must say that when the day comes for me to get married, I might have to copy what was done with the groom's cake... I mean... how awesome is a cake that looks like a pizza (Wow Factor Cakes)?!? I cannot stress enough how much I love my job and getting an opportunity to help put smiles like these on the faces of people who trust in the services of Split Second Sound. A huge congratulations to John and Jaimee! I wish you two nothing but happiness and success in all of your future endeavors. First Week Of The New Year = First Wedding Of The New Year
Posted on: January-08, 2014 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
What better way to begin a new year than by celebrating a wedding?! They were able to get married on one of those cool dates (1/4/14) too! Wedding season started at Providence Country Club for me this year! The groom's side is American, but the bride's side is from South Korea so not only was this a fun and interesting event, it was also educational. Between the traditional American ceremony and the reception, there was a traditional South Korean ceremony as well. Part of that ceremony included the bride and groom's parents and grandparents tossing chestnuts (to represent boys) and dates (to represent girls) in the general direction of an apron that the bride is wearing. The bride and groom are supposed to use the apron to catch as many chestnuts and dates as they can. However many they catch determines how many children they will have to carry on their dynasty. These two caught 17 combined! Before the introductions at the beginning of the reception, I said something along the lines of "If Moriah and Cameron have as many children as they're supposed to, according to the dates and chestnuts, they'll have to change their name from deBrun to Dugger" (I crack myself up sometimes). I was very pleased to see the bride and groom spend so much time on the dance floor throughout the night; they started the party and the ended the party and it was a great experience to be a part of their special day....  read more »

Wrapping Up The Wedding Year By Putting On The Ritz
Posted on: November-19, 2013 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
On 11-16-13, Demar and I were involved in a very momentous occasion for Leslie & Scott in the Urban Garden at the Ritz-Carlton. The entire event was captured in stills by Kristin Byrum Photography Purple uplights accented the trees and white pipe and drape beautifully. The Ritz Carton staff, led by Ruben, were not only impressively productive throughout the entire event, but were so very friendly and helpful; it's no surprise to me how the Ritz maintains such a stellar reputation given who they keep on their payroll. I digress... After cocktail hour, we got the reception ball rolling, we brought in the happy couple and they went right into their first dance. I didn't know they had been taking lessons but they clearly had been preparing for that moment so it was nice to see so much effort given to the occasion. After their dance, it was dinner time! It was an enjoyable experience touching base with all of the guests and finding out what kind of mood everyone was in for when the dancing began. The father of the bride was one of the most entertaining characters of the evening; from the start of the event to the end, he had a certain young lady he had been trying to set me up with. It was definitely the first time I've had one of the parents of my bride and groom try to hook me up with a guest. As the time passed through the tunes,...  read more »

Dinner time was lively and filled with the mixture of love songs and the friendly chatter of the guests. Once we got to the dance party, I was happy to see that a lot of people had remembered their dancing shoes. The autumn decor with the lighting of the city as a backdrop was ideal for the occasion. And every once in awhile, there comes a situation where you get invited back into that circle. This past Sunday was a perfect example! Last September, I had the pleasure of being the lead DJ for Joe and Emily's wedding...We had a blast and it was a great event! Little did I know that just a year later, I would be invited back into such a great group for the marriage of Joe's sister to her new husband, Robert. We had just as much fun the second time around as we did the first and I couldn't have been more honored to be back celebrating with such an incredible group of people again! The procession made their way down the boardwalk to their respective locations, the ceremony began, and vows were shared overlooking the beautiful blue water in the quarry below. After the I do's, the guests readied themselves for the impending party by getting some delicious hors d'oeuvres and drinks while the bride and groom finished up their photos. Once the sun had set and it was time to get the party started, we had an excellent time with everyone throughout the evening! They had an awesome sparkler exit back up the boardwalk, which I'm sure made for some amazing photos which were taken throughout the night by Timeless Exposure Photography Inc. On September 14th, 2013, Josh and I were at Morning Glory Farms for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception for an amazing couple. The groom is a firefighter so quite a few guests were as well... boy do they know how to have a good time! From the beginning of the day, the sky was clear, there was that incoming autumn breeze that kept the temperature JUST right; the ingredients for a great day were there, and we had the recipe for an incredible event. The "I do's" were said with a beautiful pond in the background, framed by the bridesmaids and groomsmen on their respective sides. The bride was overflowing with happiness (apparent with her random outbursts of laughter and giggles during the ceremony). It was one of the most genuinely happy ceremonies I've ever had the pleasure of being involved in. That happiness was the spark that ignited the fire that was the awesome reception that followed after the cocktail hour in between. Erika Melson Photography made sure to get the family photos done in a timely manner so that we could get the party started. Once the reception kicked off, it was fun-filled from start to finish! From the bride's dad breakin' it down all night, to the groom and all of his boys serenading the bride Top Gun style, the reception had a little bit of everything and everyone was able to get involved. The ceremony took place in front of the fountain in the Crepe Myrtle garden and was officiated by Reverend Patrick Maloy. After the ceremony, the guests made their way to the terrace/lawn for refreshments while they enjoyed some classic Soca and Calypso music. Once it was time to get the reception underway, the real fun began! After a night of fun and dancing (caught on camera by Digital Concept Photography), we sent the bride and groom through a tunnel of sparklers to their truck (fully equipped with cans tied to the hitch and "Just married" written on the back window). On Saturday, August 10th, 2013, Justin and I had the grand opportunity to be involved in the festivities for Dane and Kelly's big day at Firethorne Country Club. With storm clouds looming overhead, we were worried that the ceremony might have had to be moved inside but with a bit of luck, the storm missed us and everything happened according to plan. The seasoned professional, Patrick Maloy, was present to officiate the ceremony; as always he did a phenomenal job. The groom's uncle handled the prelude music with a beautiful hammer dulcimer but we took over once the ceremony began. Afterwards, everyone gathered inside to snack and grab a drink while pictures were being taken. Once the reception kicked off, there was nothing but fun to be had! The bride and groom had a great group of friends and family and everyone there was in excellent spirits. It turns out that a couple of kids that I went to high school with, two people I hadn't seen in 9 years, were my bride and groom. Now, I knew it was their wedding from meeting with them prior to the event to discuss the details, but it was a pleasant surprise nonetheless to be the guy they wanted there in charge of their reception. They had a beautiful lake-front ceremony where they exchanged their custom vows and plenty of smiles. Once the ceremony was over, everyone migrated into the cocktail area while Alfredo and Ashley went and finished up their pictures. When it was time for the reception to start, the fun began! We had some fun introductions which led right into the bride and groom's first dance which turned out to be a very special megamix of fun dances that they did to surprise and entertain their guests. After the photos were finished, it was time to get the reception under way! After the introductions, dinner, and the cake cutting were finished, the bride danced with her dad and then the groom and his mom surprised all of the guests with a fun choreographed piece to MC Hammer's Can't Touch This. Posted on: May-07, 2013 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
On March 24th, 2013, Demar and I had the privilege to be included in the festivities for the marriage of Mike and Brianne at the Ballantyne Hotel and Lodge. With the incredible staff over there, everything happened like clockwork and the party was an excellent one! The beautiful floral arrangements were done by Lily Greenthumb's Wedding & Event Design, Cake Lady Jill was responsible for the delicious cake, and we even had ShutterBooth in the mix! There was lots of dancing, friendly mingling, hearty laughter, and joy spread throughout the evening and everyone seemed to genuinely enjoy themselves. Yet another event I was very happy to have been a part of....  read more »

Charlotte Wedding DJ in Charleston At The South Carolina Aquarium
Posted on: March-06, 2013 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
On March 3rd, 2013, one of my trusty assistants, Max and I were off on another adventure. The previous week was up to the castle in the mountains; this specific weekend, we were headed to the coast! I was fortunate enough to get to do this wedding because the bride and groom actually work at a venue that Split Second Sound does a number of events for and they had seen a few the events that I had handled personally and trusted me enough to be in charge of their special day. The venue was as out of the ordinary as it was awesome! The event started off with their ceremony in front of the huge fish tank...and after the ceremony, the reception took place on the opposite side of that tank in the main atrium of the aquarium. Due to the venue being so far from where they call home, I know that the guest list wasn't as extensive as the bride and groom would have found to be ideal, but you could tell the guests in attendance were important to the couple. It was just a very special event to have been involved in. At the end, I couldn't get to the bride quickly enough to get a photo with her in her wedding dress (because it was time to relocate to the after-party) but they were kind enough to get a photo with me before they left anyway...Hopefully I'll remember to come back...  read more »

Charlotte Wedding DJ Up In The Mountains At Castle Ladyhawke
Posted on: March-06, 2013 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
On February 23, 2013, my assistant Max and I made our way out past Asheville into the mountains of Tuckasegee, North Carolina to the aesthetically stunning Castle Ladyhawke for a very special wedding. The groom was the little brother of one of my very first friends I had made when I moved to North Carolina so I had known him since he was about 11. His bride is a great young lady who I have had the pleasure of meeting on several occasions; one of which was at her Matron of Honor's wedding last year where I was the DJ as well. The venue was amazing, the guests were great, the bride and groom were an excellent match, and we had a great time celebrating with them! Of course by the end of the night, I was excited to get a picture with them...So before their sparkler exit, they took a moment to snap one with me. Then it was time to send the prince and his princess out the door, through their sparkler-lined escape route...to the white steed awaiting them (they left in a white Ford Mustang). That concluded the fairytale wedding and Split Second Sound wishes for nothing more than their happily ever after....  read more »

Charlotte Wedding DJs at The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge
Posted on: February-19, 2013 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
So when I first started with Split Second Sound back at the beginning of 2009, I did a lot of my training with Vinny, Joey, and Dennis primarily. Now, several years later, getting an opportunity to work with one of the leads who molded me into the entertainment host that I am today is always a pleasure. On February 9th, I had an opportunity to DJ a wedding with Joey, another one of Split Second Sound's Deluxe DJs. We decided to have some fun and wound up setting up both his setup AND mine and mixed between the two throughout the evening.I would play a few songs, and then he would catch my beat and mix in while I went out and got involved with the crowd on the dance-floor; I would go back, catch his beat and mix into another set. It was a total blast and the guests really seemed to enjoy themselves. After quite an eventful evening, we managed to get a photo with our happy couple before they made their way out to the sparkler exit awaiting them.I hope that we are able to incorporate the "Double Deluxe" into more and more jobs in the future because when you have two of Split Second Sound's Deluxe DJs running your event, the fun only ends when the party does....  read more »

DJ Charlotte NC - So long 2012, Hello 2013!
Posted on: January-07, 2013 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
For New Year's Eve, I had the privilege of being at Providence Country Club. I had Linda there to assist with motivating and we had a great time with the members. When the clock struck midnight, everyone had their hands in the air and we kept the party going until almost 1:30 when we had to shut it down. It was a fun celebration of a new beginning that has brought us into 2013. I wish that everyone who I have encountered has a great 2013 and I do hope that there will be plenty of incredible times to be had as we all make our way through another year! If you want to have a memorable occasion, call Split Second Sound!...  read more »

DJ Charlotte NC - Ho-Ho-Holiday parties
Posted on: January-07, 2013 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
I love December because that means that it's time for company Christmas parties and other various holiday celebrations! This year I was up in Charlotte's City Club with Benjamin, I was down at the Monroe Country Club with Julian, I was over at the Ballantyne Country Club with Kyle, and then I was all the way out in Pinehurst for the big Country Club of North Carolina's company Christmas party! From seeing the Biker Shuffle for the first time, to having someone do the worm across the entire dance floor because his boss offered him $100 to do it, these parties had a little bit of everything!...  read more »

Wedding DJ Charlotte NC - Starting off December...
Posted on: January-07, 2013 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
For my final wedding of 2012 and my 43rd for the year, I had the pleasure of being the entertainment host with Benjamin as my assistant for Ansley and Matt's wedding reception at Roof With A View. With over 200 guests in attendance, there was a strong influence of Clemson fans... however the Florida Gators were represented as well; Tim Tebow's mom was in attendance! This was definitely the perfect party to cap off the weddings of 2012. ...  read more »

The Beginning Of November...
Posted on: November-08, 2012 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
I started off the month of November back at Trump National Golf Club for the union of Chris and Krysten. It was another perfect day weather-wise for a lake-side ceremony. After the ceremony, it was straight to cocktail hour so Cassandra from BlueSky Studios and her second shooter, Julia could take the happy couple and their wedding party for photos. Once they were finished, we brought the guests into the dining hall and got the evening rolling. We had so much fun with these two and their guests! I will be coming back to this blog to add my photo with these two when I get it. I usually use my phone or digital camera but in this instance, Cassandra snapped the end of the evening photo so I will post it when I get it from her. :-)The next day, Virginia and Joel held their reception at the Elder Gallery. I'm honored to say that I am the first DJ/MC to oversee a wedding reception at this specific venue. Both the groom and his father have a military background so instead of the normal introduction, they had military men in full dress with sabres for an introduction arch. As the bride and groom made their way through the arch, the sabres at the front lowered, blocking them in... just long enough for one of the soldiers to smack the bride on her rear end with his sabre before letting them continue through the arch. Virginia and Joel had such...  read more »

The End Of October...
Posted on: November-08, 2012 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
So on 10/26, I was at Trump National Golf Club (formerly known as the Point Lake & Golf Club) for Shannon and Joe's big day! The ceremony was beautiful and the weather was perfect. I see why October has become one of the most popular months of the year to get married. It's not too hot, it's not too cold, it's JUST RIGHT! After the ceremony, the guests wandered into the cocktail area for a bit as Shannon, Joe, and their wedding party went out to the dock to get some fantastic photos taken by Critsey Rowe and Thomas Geist. Once it was time for the reception to start, the doors opened to the beautiful reception hall and the guests made their way in to be seated. Introductions were awesome and the evening started with a bang! Many laughs were shared, the dance floor stayed moving, and we had an great time! I was very happy to be a part of Shannon and Joe's big day.The next day, it was time to celebrate the union of Fiona and Eric! On 10/27, I was at the Peninsula Club for the festivities. My bride and groom had guests in from all over the place! It was quite the melting pot event and I loved every second of it. The toasts were touching, the chemistry between Fiona and Eric was electric, and the overall vibe was just pure joy. Their first dance was completely choreographed by the groom and it was impressive! Once...  read more »

October Occasions! So far...
Posted on: October-21, 2012 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
(Above is the cake topper from 10/6/12)It's been quite a month for weddings so far! Started off with this fantastic couple The following weekend, I had the honor to be apart of their special day The following day, I had another wedding but unfortunately was unable to get a photo with the bride and groom because there was an issue with a food allergy that unfortunately resulted in the bride leaving her wedding via ambulance. The bright side was, she didn't have a reaction until the end of her reception as they were preparing to do their exit. I spoke with the groom later that day to make sure everything was alright and he said that she was feeling much better. The following weekend, I had the distinct pleasure of DJing the wedding of a bride whose brother's wedding I DJ'd almost a year and a half ago! I was very happy to be able to have a photo opportunity at the end of the night with both couples! I have two more next weekend so I cannot wait to see what exciting times are in store!...  read more »

On Saturday, September 22nd, 2012, a fantastic group of people gathered at Vesuvius Vineyards to celebrate the marriage of Preston and Caitlin. It was quite an occasion! The ceremony was held on the front lawn...    After the beautiful ceremony, the weather was perfect for their cocktail hour by the creek. Once all the family photos had been taken and the guests had sufficiently mingled, it was time to start the reception!  Oh what a reception it was! The delicious food was provided by Best Impressions Catering, the amazing cake was done by Chocolatier Barrucand, Photos were snapped by Lauren Cardwell Photography, all of the live footage was captured by Carlisle Videography, and Rachel with Shutterbooth was definitely in the house as well! It was an evening filled with laughter, excitement, dancing, and priceless memories never to be forgotten and Split Second Sound could not have been more thrilled to be a part of it all! Congratulations, Preston and Caitlin! I wish you two a lifetime of happiness!...  read more »

Tools of the trade...
Posted on: December-06, 2011 | Post By: Jonah - MC DJ Owner's Pick Pearl
So I just wanted to give you all an idea of what tools of the trade I bring to start a party and keep it rockin'!For sound, my primary speakers are these Mackie SRM450 powered 12's. These bad boys thump and produce crisp, high quality sound... Your favorite songs will sound amazing blowing out of these horns! Now what will I use to control what comes out of those SRM450s? Why, my Numark NS6 of course! It's the latest and greatest, state-of-the-art 4-deck mixer/controller.The NS6, via USB, plugs into my Macbook Pro which is running the Intel dual-core i5 processor and a whopping 8GB of RAM (to virtually eliminate any snagging or glitching during an event).JUST IN CASE (it's never happened *knocks on wood*), I also bring an HP DV7 with an Intel i5 processor and 4GB of RAM to use as a back-up. The software I use is Serato's Itch 2.0...which the NS6 was specifically designed to integrate seamlessly with... for complete control. Here is what it looks like all set up on the job...That is the core of my setup and is what I use to keep you, your family, and your friends dancing well on into the night!...  read more »
