DJ Spotlight of the Week - DJ Mahlon
Mahlon’s love for music stemmed from his childhood. His parents were musically inclined, as his father was a drummer in a local jazz band and mother played piano all of his childhood. During his school years, Mahlon, played violin, bass, and drums. Mahlon had a deep appreciation for all genres of music. Eventually, he bought his own turntables as a result of his growing interest in all styles and genres of music. He was so intrigued and passionate about the way music had the capability to get people up and come together in the name of sound. He began DJing a few close friend’s weddings and thus began his DJ career.
Another one of Split Second’s DJs made the introduction between Mahlon and Split Second. He began working with the family in 2013 and has been an amazing asset since. Mahlon has proven to be reliable and full of energy and talent when it comes to beat matching. Mahlon thinks of himself as an ambassador. It is his job to bring people and music together; when that happens, they dance and their party becomes a journey that creates moments they will always remember.
We have witnessed and read reviews about how detail oriented Mahlon is when it comes to preparing for a wedding or an event. He understands that he gets one shot to be the person in control of the music, vibe, and organization of the client’s special day. He not only excels in preparing for the day but can adjust by reading the crowd during the event. Mahlon has rave reviews about how comfortable he makes the clients before an event. This allows the couple to come into the event with a certain amount of ease.
When Mahlon is not DJing, he enjoys relaxing at home or traveling. Mahlon enjoys research and participating in different hobbies. He has been very into glass blowing lately. His parents used to take him to Colonial Williamsburg where they had different trades set up and you could observe the process. He was always enthralled by the glass blowing and has started dabbling in it. He also spends time staying current on music and creating mixes. Charlotte has not only provided Mahlon with opportunities but has also lead him to his wife. We are glad the wind blew Mahlon our way and look forward to many more years together.
